What are your parenting strengths?
Wow in compiling a list of strengths to post for parents so they could recognize the things that they bring to the table and help boost confidence as a parent, I realized that google was very judgy! There weren't articles or lists on things that may be the strengths you have, it was more along the lines of if you don't have ALL of these skills as a parent you definitely will fail and so will your kid!
Not sure about you but I can honestly say that I don't do all those things all the time! In fact, it is a known fact in my house that for sure some of those things are not MY strengths!
So I sit here in all theses feelings and try to find my own logical brain and what to say to parents out there about strengths as a parent. And what I have come up with is this:
What I have always believed, what I have taught my own kids and the kids I work with is:
- Your job is NOT to be good at everything, that is an impossible task!
- Your job is to know your strengths and needs! What are you really good at, what makes you, you?
- What are some areas that you could work on so that you can be the person you want to be and feel good?
Same goal for parents, please don't google search traits of a "good" parent.... it is a very individual skill and for sure google won't know! Because of who you are, your authentic self, you will bring amazing things to your family! To be a good parent you are NOT trying to be like everyone else, you are trying to be the best version of yourself!
Parenting is tricky, if you need help identifying your strengths as a parents and how to use those strengths tom become the parents you want to be I offer one on one coaching!
If your not ready no worries, and remember:
Your goal is NOT to do all the things, your job is to be the best version of you!
