I get this question a lot...
Parents want to know what the BEST toy is to help with development and cognition.
Which toy can assure their adorable little human will have the best opportunity to meet all their milestones.
While toys are great, there is something we all have that can support the best chance for development.
It will ensure your child is building a strong foundation for language, social skills and cognition.
It helps to build strong pathways in the bottom brain and creates a strong base
for social interactions, which will lead to better social emotional health.
My answer may surprise you...
It's
YOU!
It's you and the caregivers in your child's life.
The latest research from the Journal of the American Academy of Child And Adolescent Psychiatry says that when we consistently and quickly respond to our babies needs, we create a secure attachment, which leads to larger brain volume and higher level of cognitive ability. It actually affects the way the brain develops! The brain scans show larger grey matter volume!
So what does this mean?
It means play, interact and connect with your baby. It means pay attention to their cues and comfort and love them!
No fancy toys needed, just you!!!
Listen to your instincts, connect to your knowing and be silly....
Have fun!!!
If they cry, console them...
You are not going to spoil your baby, you are making them feel safe and secure helping their brain develop and capable of language, cognition and engagement.
The research shows that if you respond to your babies cues, talk to them and interact with them their brains will have greater capacity to learn, form language and build secure attachments!
