Pretend play....
We live in a very structured and organized world, with lots of expectations, deadlines and benchmarks!
There are so many choices and lots of information streaming to us as parents from so many sources, its hard to process at times and it seems we are always second guessing what we should or should not be doing with our kids.
One of the best things that we can do as parents is let our kids take the lead, have them show us what they want to play with...it may be a blanket or a sock...
You may ask what they could possibly learn with a blanket or a sock....my answer is so very much!!!
They can learn object permanence playing peek a boo, motor skills and grasping patterns, pretend play, matching and sorting, language skills, turn taking and engagement.... and yes, all with a blanket and a pair of socks!!!
The way kids learn is through PLAY! That is the best way to teach them any skill....
Unlike our adult world with clear expectations and deadlines, kids learn by exploring, interacting, watching and mimicking...this is play!!! It is so important to their development to be able to be creative and play pretend....
Here is an article from Very Well Family that explains why and ideas to help you guide your child....

This week I made a pretend play kitchen from an old Rubbermaid container and construction paper...
I love this because its portable and has a built in "clean up" area!!! You can use items form your own kitchen to stock your little ones play kitchen!!!
